Bachelor of Theology in World Missions

It is necessary to give missionaries skills so they may competently live and minister in a foreign culture. A missions academic program must add cultural adaptation and strategy skills to the core program of Bible, theology and ministry methods in order to produce effective, enduring cross-cultural ministers.

Mission Statement

The mission of the World Missions major at Kyiv Theological Seminary is to prepare students theologically and culturally to effectively serve Christ in other cultures, in order to help fulfill the great commission.

Vision Statement

The vision of the program is to see evangelical churches in Ukraine and Eurasia send out skilled missionaries who will present the Good News cross-culturally, with the goal of establishing new church movements among the unreached.

 Goals

1.       Instill in students the conviction that world missions is God’s priority for His church

2.       Prepare students to understand principles of cross-cultural evangelism, discipleship, and church planting

3.       Equip students to develop strategies and planning for intercultural ministry

4.       Teach students to understand and respond knowledgably to major world religious systems

5.       Integrate biblical and theological truth into life and ministry

6.       Equip students to know and interact with current missiological issues and trends

7.       Instill in students the ability to understand and relate to the relational dynamics of mission life

8.       Prepare students to apply skills and knowledge acquired within the major by means of a cross-cultural ministry internship

Core Values

1.       We value the submission of all ministry activity to the authority of God’s Word.

2.       We value Christ’s great commission to “Go into all the world and preach the Gospel” as the central purpose of every church.

3.       We value the priority of bringing the Good News to unreached people groups in order to fulfill the church’s commission.

4.       We value the submission of the missionary’s lifestyle and ministry methods to cultural styles of those he/she seeks to serve, thus “becoming all things to all men.”

5.       We value the establishment of new, culturally-relevant churches as the end goal of all missionary efforts.

Curriculum Description

The curriculum of the World Missions major is composed of biblical, theological, cultural and ministerial aspects, designed to produce skilled, cross-cultural ministers.  The classroom curriculum is enhanced by a practicum of cross-cultural ministry assignments.
