TH 201 Theology 1 - Introduction, Revelation and the Nature of God (3)

Introduction to the study of theology including presuppositions, goals and means of theological study. The doctrine of the Bible as revelation from God to humanity including the various means of God's self revelation; the Bible as uniquely inspired communication from God; the doctrine of inerrancy and sufficiency. The doctrine of the God of Christianity, including the existence of God, His divine attributes, and works. Presentation of the biblical teaching about the personal and triune nature of God's existence. Special attention is given to the function of the Father in creation and providence.

Prerequisites: BE 101.

TH 202 Theology 2 - Man and Sin; Angels (3)
Fundamental issues of theological anthropology including the creation and age of mankind, man in the image of God, the particular relationships between men and women before God and society, the human psychological and physical constitution. Humanity under sin including: the problem of evil, the nature of temptation and sin, the consequences of sin, and the doctrine of original sin. The doctrine of angels including the creation, nature, ministry and destiny of angels. The doctrine of evil angels (demonology) and Satan (Satanology) including the personality, work and destiny of Satan and evil angels, also the believer's conflict with Satan and demons.

TH 301 Theology 3 - The person and work of Christ in salvation (3)
The person and work of Jesus Christ including the nature of the incarnation, virgin birth, the real humanity of Jesus Christ, his impeccability, earthly ministry and the redemptive significance of his suffering, resurrection and exaltation. The application and provisions of salvation including: the divine and human aspects of salvation (election, predestination, calling, faith, conversion, repentance), the doctrines of regeneration, justification and sanctification. Special emphasis on the practice of sanctification in personal Christian living.

TH 302 Theology 4 - The Spirit and the Church, Last Things (3)
The work of the Holy Spirit in applying salvation in Christ to the Church including the formation and empowerment of the Church as Christ's body, the Church's organization, function, ordinances, and mission in God's purpose. Special emphasis on the nature and practice of spiritual gifts in the church's mission. The Kingdom purpose of God and the future events related to the destiny of history and individuals including Christ's second coming in its different phases, the millennial reign of Christ, the resurrections, judgments and the eternal state.

TH 401 Contemporary Theology (3)
The course surveys the major contributions and systems of theology in the 19th and 20th centuries.
