PT 101 Prayer (3) It is the object of this course to assist the student in the study and development of personal and corporate prayer. The study of prayers found in the Word of God will serve as a foundation for the development of a biblical model of praying. The course will also include a study of the teachings of Christ and Paul on prayer. Emphasis will be placed upon practical application in the personal life and in the church. PT 201 Mentoring (3) The course surveys biblical models of servant leadership and compares these with modern methods of developing Church planting teams. Identifying and training potential leaders for cell groups. Creating individual disciple making plans for the people involved in Church planting ministry. PT 202 Discipleship (3) In this course we will examine the biblical concept of discipleship, its relationship to conversion and its relevance in the Christian life. PT 204 Homiletics 1 (3) The course surveys the importance of exegetical sermons and presents methods of sermon development such as starting from the biblical text and allowing the text to guide development process, the content of the sermon and application. An introduction to expository preaching with an emphasis on helping you to communicate divine truth through human personality. PT 302 Biblical Counseling (3) The nature and principles of biblical counseling as opposed to humanistic approaches; techniques and theories of counseling; patterns of problem solving; the counselor and counselee relationship; and the sufficiency of Scripture. Prerequisites: BE 101, TH 201, TH 202. PT 304 Homiletics 2 (3) The course offers advanced study of oral communication theory and the implementation of skills required for an effective pulpit ministry. Special attention is given to the preparation of individual sermons, sermon series and special occasions. Students also study the preparation processes and sermon delivery styles of notable preachers, past and present. PT 401 Ethics (3) A survey is made of the principles of Christian behavior as outlined in the Bible, in Church history, and in contemporary Christianity. A practical focus of the course is to help the students evaluate and develop their personal character and from that their ministry methods and motives from scriptural values, in order to make disciples with integrity. Abortion, euthanasia, genetics and other issues of contemporary significance will be discussed. PT 403 Worship (3) A biblical study of praise and worship, which will explore the following topics: what praise is; entering the presence of God; praise as a weapon for spiritual warfare; what worship is; becoming a worshiper; and the purpose of congregational worship. Special emphasis will be placed on the Tabernacle of Moses and the Tabernacle of David and their models for present day worship.
